Dr. Taylor G. Hill is the director of the Socio-Ecological Well-Being Research Lab at the University of Dundee in Scotland.
In 2024, she completed her PhD in Experimental Psychology at Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia. During her doctoral training, she was the lead analyst for the 2019 Nova Scotia Quality of Life Initiative, the largest single non-government well-being dataset in Canada. This work developed her interests in population mental health, large-scale survey research, reproducible data science, and data visualisation, which now form a major part of her research programme.
Her research programme examines how people and communities experience, sustain, and promote well-being across individual, social, and structural levels. Her work spans positive and motivational psychology, population mental health, and mental health data science, with particular interests in psychological richness, dynamic models of well-being, and the social and environmental conditions that shape mental health across places and populations. Methodologically, her research combines longitudinal and intensive longitudinal designs with large-scale survey, administrative, spatial, and linked data, with an emphasis on reproducible research in R.
She is an Affiliate Researcher with the Canadian Alliance for Social Connection and Health and Wellstream: Canadian Centre for Innovation in Child & Youth Mental Health & Substance Use, and the Research Methods Consultant with Engage Nova Scotia.
Perhaps most importantly, she is a triplet, a tabby cat mom, knows every episode of Friends, and loves live music, traveling, coffee, and reading historical fiction.
